          Abstract:

          This chapter illustrates the methodological background and research design that framed this study: i.e., it was carried out in Poland and encompassed 30 teachers who had already obtained or were in the process of obtaining their PhD degree. The chapter begins with discussing the epistemological perspective for the study which was located broadly within the interpretivist paradigm. This is then followed by overviewing the data collection process (via interviews) and introducing the study participants, before presenting the data analysis approach. Lastly, this chapter discusses the ethical aspects that emerged through this study.
