          Abstract

The long abandoned Farm Dorm outside the walls of Norfolk was rehabbed, refurbished, and repopulated. Unused for a decade, this was where Malcolm X (1987) studied, joined the debate team, and found Islam, transforming himself from a criminal to 50a civil rights leader. A minimum-security center was opened in a former staff residence outside the walls of the Framingham Women’s Reformatory .
