For Authors

Whether you are a first-time or returning author to Radboud University Press, we are always interested in exploring new publishing opportunities, including journals, books, educational materials, and collaborating on existing titles.

Book Publishing Process

If you wish to explore publication of your work please contact us at radbouduniversitypress@ru.nl. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible to discuss your proposal with our Editorial Board. Once approved we’ll set up a publication plan and timeline. Your final manuscript is then send for peer-review and following that, prepared for publication. Your book will be available as a free download and – if required – also as a fairly priced hard copy.

Copyright and Open Licencing

All of our content is published under the terms of Creative Commons Licences which ensures that copyright remains with authors and editors. Full attribution is required to accompany all reuse and dissemination. If you publish with us, you retain ownership of your work.

Our recommended licence is CC-BY as this is best aligned to the principles of open access as defined by the Budapest Open Access Initiative, and recommended by the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA). The CC-BY licence allows readers to copy, redistribute, remix, and build upon the publications, as long as clear attribution to the original source and author(s) are given.

Research Data and Software

We encourage our authors to make the research data, bio-resources, methodologies, and software associated with all books and articles openly available whenever possible. These services will greatly increase the re-usability and impact of your work, leading to increased citations and opportunities for collaboration.

Contact us at radbouduniversitypress@ru.nl to discuss the possibilities.

Indexing

Radboud University Press ensures that all published content is indexed with Crossref and assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for online tracking and referencing. References cited in books and journals are tracked by the publishing community in a number of ways, and the content is added to the anti-plagiarism database.

We register our journals and books with as many suitable indexers as possible for increased discovery and tracking, and we provide advice to editors on how to apply to high impact index services.

Current collaborations include:

Archiving and Preservation

All our content is preserved in the Radboud Repository, where it is stored sustainably and indexed via the Dutch NARCIS system.

In addition, the works are archived in CLOCKSS. This means our content is regularly archived with many of the world's leading research libraries. These archives ensure that all our content will always be available as open access.

Radboud University Press uses open, non-proprietary standards for all of its content, meaning that it can be easily transferred to archives and other publishers. All of our article XML is compliant with the Journal Archiving and Interchange Tag Suite (JATS) schema.
