The ScienceOpen Renewable Energy Super Collection contains collections each bringing together research addressing the key challenges of a specific form of renewable energy, and their grid integration:
Renewable Energy - Solar—covering solar energy, including photovoltaics, CSP, and solar fuel generation.
Renewable Energy - Wind—covering wind power technology at all scales.
Renewable Energy - Storage—covering the key challenges of storing energy.
Renewable Energy - Geothermal—covering technologies for harnessing geothermal heat.
Renewable Energy - Hydropower—covering generation of electricity from the flow of water.
Renewable Energy - Distribution Grid—covering technologies for the electricity distribution grid.
The Renewable Energy Super Collection focuses on highly cited journal articles and review papers dating back to 2009/2010 or later. Older publications can be included if they are of seminal character. The collection's emphasis is on science and technology papers, but works on the economic or regulatory aspects, or on health aspects may be included too. The Editor welcomes suggestions from readers about papers to include in the individual collections.
Renewable Energy – Distribution Grid brings together a systematic collection of research addressing the key challenges of delivering reliable electric power of high quality to the consumers that is based on rising shares of distributed and intermittent renewables.
Research and review papers, as well as selected conference papers addressing all relevant ways challenges, approaches and technologies are considered, including simulation and modelling, power electronics, monitoring, and interfaces with generators as well as with transmission systems. The collection is meant to provide researchers and advanced students an orientation of the field, to point them to relevant workgroups, and to address current challenges. The collection will grow over time. There will be synergies with other collections within the Renewable Energy Super Collection.
Renewable Energy - Geothermal brings together a systematic collection of research addressing the key challenges of geothermal energy, for both electricity and heat provision.
Research and review papers, as well as selected conference papers addressing all relevant ways to use geothermal energy are considered, including deep and near surface geothermal systems, exploration, wells, technological components like pumps, heat exchanger, turbine, and other.
The collection is meant to provide researchers and advanced students an orientation of the field, to point them to relevant workgroups, and to address current challenges. The collection will grow over time. There will be synergies with other collections within the Renewable Energy Super Collection.
Renewable Energy - Hydropower brings together a systematic collection of research addressing technologies and challenges for harvesting the power of water movement.
Research and review papers, as well as selected conference papers addressing all important ways to harness hydropower are considered, including e.g. tidal power, and wave and current devices. The collection is meant to provide researchers and advanced students an orientation of the field, to point them to relevant workgroups, and to address current challenges. The collection will grow over time. There will be synergies with other collections within the Renewable Energy Super Collection.
Renewable Energy - Solar brings together a systematic collection of research addressing the key challenges of solar energy.
Research and review papers, as well as selected conference papers addressing all important ways to harness solar radiation are considered, including photovoltaics, concentrated solar power, solar-powered gas generation, solar heating, and other. The collection is meant to provide researchers and advanced students an orientation of the field, to point them to relevant workgroups, and to address current challenges. The collection will grow over time. There will be synergies with other collections within the Renewable Energy Super Collection. If you are specifically looking for thin film based PV, please see the Silicon thin film solar cells collection (not part of the Super Collection) edited by Jürgen Hüpke.
Renewable Energy - Storage brings together a systematic collection of research addressing the key challenges of storing energy - electricity, heat, or energy for transport.
Research and review papers, as well as selected conference papers addressing all important or emerging ways to store electricity, heat, other other forms of energy. This includes chemical technologies, mechanical, electrical, thermal, or other. The collection is meant to provide researchers and advanced students with an orientation of the field, to point them to relevant workgroups, and to address current challenges. The collection will grow over time. There will be synergies with other collections within the Renewable Energy Super Collection.
Renewable Energy - Wind brings together a systematic collection of research addressing the key challenges of wind power.
Research and review papers, as well as selected conference papers addressing all important ways to harness the energy of the wind are considered, on all scales, including horizontal axis systems, vertical axis systems, related machinery and power electronics, and construction issues. The collection is meant to provide researchers and advanced students an orientation of the field, to point them to relevant workgroups, and to address current challenges. The collection will grow over time. There will be synergies with other collections within the Renewable Energy Super Collection.
