An understanding of evolution is fundamental to an understanding of biology. Despite this, many students have only a poor understanding of evolution or reject the theory of evolution. The large body of research on evolution education reveals gaps in understanding, different levels of acceptance, and instructional strategies to overcome these obstacles.
This collection contains research on:
- Students' understanding and alternative conceptions of evolution
- Students' acceptance of evolution
- (Pre-service) Teachers' understanding and acceptance of evolution
- Theoretical suggestions for instructional strategies for teaching evolution
- Evaluation of instructional strategies for teaching evolution
- Measurement of understanding and acceptance of evolution
