      Tendencias actuales en las competencias específicas de Enfermería

          Abstract

          Se revisaron los aspectos relacionados con los antecedentes y la situación actual de la evaluación de la competencia y el desempeño profesional en Salud, su surgimiento, la participación de la Organización Económica para el Desarrollo y de la Organización Internacional del Trabajo y su Centro Interamericano de Investigación y Documentación sobre la Formación Profesional. Se analizó la estrategia del Ministerio de Salud Pública de Cuba en esta esfera, que reconoce las competencias como uno de los lineamientos para garantizar la calidad en los servicios de salud, el perfeccionamiento y la capacitación de los recursos humanos. Se expone la labor del personal de Enfermería en la evaluación de las competencias, sus perspectivas y el trabajo realizado en esta línea.

          Translated abstract

          Those aspects connected with the antecedents and the present situation of the evaluation of the professional competence and performance in the health sphere, its upsurge, and the participation of the Economic Organization for Development and of the Interantional Labor Organization and its Interamerican Center of Research and Documentation on Professional Training were reviewed. The strategy of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba in this field that recognizes the competences as one of the guidelines to guarantee the quality in the health services and the improvement and upgrading of human resources, was analized. The work done by the nursing staff in the evaluation of the competences, its prospects and what has been done up to now are dealt with in this paper.
