Abstract

El asesinato de Rogelia Cruz Martínez, en enero de 1968, fue parte de las prácticas contrainsurgentes guatemaltecas que pusieron énfasis en los sin-límites de las operaciones policiacas en contra de los revolucionarios. Rogelia ostentó el título de Miss Guatemala 1959, participó en el certamen Miss Universo en Long Beach, California, y militó en una de las primeras organizaciones insurrectas de Guatemala, las Fuerzas Armadas Rebeldes (FAR). Su imagen fue parte del ideario político-revolucionario guatemalteco, en 1973 el artista plástico Arnoldo, El Tecolote, Ramírez Amaya plasmó su rostro en un edificio de Ciudad Universitaria durante el proceso de muralización. Ante ello, este estudio se dirige a colaborar en la memoria histórica de Guatemala, desde la contribución de una mujer significativa al proceso insurgente del país centroamericano, mediante el proceso de construcción de Rogelia Cruz como personaje relevante e icónico de la lucha revolucionaria.

L'image de cette femme a mis en relief les sinlímites des opérations policières contre les révolutionnaires et elle a troublé la population car dix ans avant elle avait été nommé Miss Guatemala 1959 et avait même participé au concours Miss Univers à Long Beach en Californie. Elle appartenait à une des premières organisations révolutionnaires du Guatemala, les Forces Armées Rebelles, au moment de sa séquestration et puis sa mort. L'image de Rogelia Cruz fait partie de l'idéologie politique révolutionnaire guatémaltèque.
