          Abstract

          Translated abstract

Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) is one of the most important pests in agriculture, due to the wide range of host plants and economic losses that produces. In recent years, its control has been inefficient, generating insecticide resistance. However, it has been found that the host also influences the induction of natural resistance to pesticides. The objective of the research was to determine the mechanisms and changes in detoxifying enzyme levels of B. tabaci, collected from six different hosts in 2012, in the state of Chiapas. Bifenthrin insecticide was used to assess the susceptibility of these populations and biochemical tests in order to know the levels of α and β-esterase, oxidases and glutathione s-transferases enzymes. Changes in the levels of α and β-esterases were observed in populations of B. tabaci developed in weeds Solanum nigrum and Melampodium divaricatum. It can be said that the host plant influences the induction of detoxifying enzymes in the resistance of B. tabaci.
