          Abstract

Questions on the Implementation of Inclusion in Schools

Abstract. Background: Starting with a short example, the article examines selected questions that deal with the implementation of inclusion in the daily routine in schools. Methods: Taking up several topics inevitably leads to a selective choice of literature. The selection is oriented towards the various topics. A focus lays on studies in mathematical didactics. Results: The professional competence of teachers in inclusive teaching and learning is one of the essential basis for success in practice. The article deals with different facets of professional competence such as beliefs, action knowledge and situation-specific skills. In addition, it is important to bring together the different professional competencies of different disciplines through teamwork. However, essential for the implementation of inclusion in schools is also organisation development, which provides conditions for implementation. As a fruitful approach for practice, the concept “Universal Design for Learning” is presented and implications for teacher education are formulated. Discussion: Due to the still relatively low level of action knowledge, the article describes challenges for practice and initial approaches to overcoming problems. However, because the development of the discussions in didactics proceeds differently, conclusions from the results of mathematical didactics for other subjects can only be drawn to a limited extent.
