          Abstract

          Translated abstract

Abstract: This essay intends to reflect on some aspects involved in the learning process in Umbanda and Anthropology, taking as a focus of attention the experiences lived by the author during his fieldwork in a terreiro. Throughout this immersion, thought in terms of an education of attention, some events have served to demonstrate the complete impossibility of establishing any kind of dissociation between certain central categories in the conformation of a “Western epistemology” as well as of anthropological practice itself. From this, it was found that knowing and feeling, participating and observing, being and knowing, action and perception, theory and practice, affection and cognition are not only intrinsically related but are constitutive parts of human apprenticeship.
