          Abstract

          El objeto de este artículo es verificar empíricamente la relación existente entre la cultura organizacional de la empresa y su rendimiento. Para ello se realiza un estudio con 60 Mipyme de mediana y alta tecnología de Cali, Colombia. Los resultados muestran que las culturas de tipo clan y la de tipo innovación tienen un impacto positivo sobre el rendimiento de las empresas, mientras que la de tipo jerárquico de manera negativa. Estos resultados, que refuerzan la teoría de que la cultura organizacional es determinante para el logro de la competitividad de las empresas, son de gran utilidad para los propios empresarios y para las entidades que promueven su conocimiento y desarrollo, incluyendo las organizaciones de fomento y la academia.

          Translated abstract

          This article is intended to provide empirical verification of the relationship between the organizational culture of a business and its performance. For this, a study was made of 60 medium- and high-technology SMEs in Cali, Colombia. The results show that the clan-type cultures and the innovation-type cultures have a positive impact on business performance, while the hierarchical type has a negative one. These results reinforce the theory that organizational culture is a decisive factor in achieving business competitiveness, and will be most useful to businessmen themselves, and for organizations that promote their knowledge and development, including development organizations and the academic sector.

          O objeto deste artigo é verificar empiricamente a relação existente entre a cultura organizacional da empresa e seu rendimento. Realizou-se um estudo com 60 PME's de média e alta tecnologia de Cali, Colômbia. Os resultados mostram que as culturas do tipo clã e do tipo inovação têm um impacto positivo sobre o rendimento das empresas, enquanto que a cultura de tipo hierárquico tem um impacto negativo. Estes resultados reforçam a teoria de que a cultura organizacional é determinante para atingir a competitividade nas empresas, e que é de grande utilidade para os próprios empresários e para as entidades que promovem seu conhecimento e desenvolvimento incluindo as organizações de fomento e a academia.
