Abstract

Producto de una indagación más amplia sobre las ceremonias mortuorias y sus valores semánticos, esta reflexión surge luego de una revisión bibliográfica a objeto de presentar, por un lado, algunas consideraciones sobre la celebración de diversos rituales funerarios como parte de la idiosincrasia del culto a la muerte que cada civilización rinde a este fenómeno natural. Por otro lado, se demostrará que estos ritos funerarios son estrategias simbólicas que regulan las relaciones entre las personas y sus culturas al promover la cohesión grupal requerida para solucionar el problema planteado por la vida terrena del ser humano y la angustia que en él genera su destino después de la muerte. El estudio se realizó en el marco de una investigación documental. La conclusión derivada luego de este trabajo confirma la tesis inicial: se ritualiza el acto de morir para hacerlo más comprensible, así como para regular las relaciones de los grupos que intervienen en dicho acto, consagrándolos como seres socio-culturalmente simbólicos que se mueven en dos universos distintos: lo profano (la tierra) y lo sagrado (el cielo). En consecuencia, los rituales funerarios actúan como estrategias para reforzar el sentido de supervivencia social y ayudar a los individuos a entender su relación no sólo consigo mismo, sino también con sus semejantes y con el mundo que está a su alrededor.

It is the result of a wide indagation over the death ceremonies and its semantics values, this reflection arises from an bibliography revision in order to present, oon the one hand some considerations over the celebration of several funeral rites as part of the idiosyncrasy of the death worship that each civilization pay tribute to this natural phenomenon due to the social and culturaltendencies. on the other hand show that these funeral rites are symbolic strategies that regulate the relations ships between people and cultures because they promote the grupal cohesion required to solve the problem stated by human being life on earth andanguis wich is the. The conclusion drawn after this work confirs the initial thesis: the act of death is formalized by preestablished rules in order to do it more understandable and to regulate the relationship of the groups that participate in this act. In this way they are consideredlike humabeings that are sociocultural symbols that go in two different universes: the profane (earth) and the sacred (heaven). By consequence, the funeral rites acts as strategies that reinforce the sense of social survival and help people to understand their relationship not only with themselves but with his fellows and the world around.
