Abstract

A travers l'analyse de la maladie et des processus de création de l'artiste Frida Kahlo, nous interrogerons le concept freudien de "symptôme" et celui de "sinthome", élaboré par Lacan dans les dernières années de son enseignement. La fonction sinthomale de l'œuvre est à distinguer du processus sublimatoire accompli par l'artiste lors de la création. Les enjeux et les fonctions de la sublimation et du sinthome ne sont pas les mêmes, en particulier dans leur articulation avec le narcissisme. Selon notre hypothèse, il y a, pour Frida Kahlo, un passage de la phase sublimatoire à la phase sinthomale, passage qui implique un changement de la position subjective, eu égard du symptôme, de l'objet d'art et du mouvement créatif qui a permis de le constituer. Nous verrons que la peinture ne peut pas opérer une réparation du corps et du moi, néanmoins, elle supporte sinthomatiquement le sujet, anéanti par la maladie, les abandons, et les crises amoureuses.

Através da análise da doença e dos processos de criação da artista Frida Kahlo, interrogamos o conceito freudiano de "sintoma" e o conceito de sinthoma, elaborado por Lacan nos últimos anos de seu ensino. A função sinthomática da obra deve ser distinguida do processo sublimatório realizado pela artista no momento da criação. A problemática e as funções da sublimação e do sinthoma são distintas, principalmente no que se refere a suas articulações com o narcisismo. Segundo a nossa hipótese existe, na obra Frida Kahlo, uma passagem que vai da fase sublimatória à fase sinthomática. Essa passagem implica uma mudança na posição do sujeito quanto ao sintoma, o objeto de arte e o movimento criativo que permitiu sua constituição. Veremos que a pintura não pode produzir uma reparação do corpo e do ego mas pode, entretanto, sustentar de forma sinthomática o sujeito aniquilado pela doença, pelos abandonos e pelas crises amorosas.

A través del análisis de la enfermedad y de los procesos de creación de la artista Frida Kahlo, interrogaremos el concepto freudiano de "síntoma" y el de sinthome, elaborado por Lacan en los últimos años de su enseñanza. La función sinthomale de la obra tiene que ser distinguida del proceso sublimatorio cumplido por el artista en el momento de la creación. Las problemáticas y las funciones de la sublimación y del sinthome no son las mismas, en particular en su articulación con el narcisismo. Según nuestra hipótesis, hay, para Frida Kahlo, un pasaje de la fase sublimatoria a la fase sinthomale, pasaje que implica un cambio de la posición subjetiva, considerando el síntoma, el objeto de arte y el movimiento creativo que permitió de constituirlo. Veremos que la pintura no puede operar una reparación del cuerpo y del yo, sin embargo, soporta sinthomatiquemente el sujeto, aniquilado por la enfermedad, los abandonos, y las crisis amorosas.

Translated abstract

Through the analysis of the disease and the creation's process of artist Frida Kahlo, we shall question the Freudian concept of "symptom" and the one of sinthome, developed by Lacan in the last years of his teaching. The sinthomal function of the artwork has to be distinguished from the sublimation process achieved by the artist during the creation. The stakes and the functions of sublimation and sinthome are not the same, particularly if we consider their articulation with the narcissism. According to our hypothesis, Frida Kahlo operates a transition from the subliminal phase to the sinthomal phase, transition that involves a change of the subjective position, regarding the symptom, the art's object, and the creative movement that established it. We shall see that painting cannot operate a repair of the body and the ego (moi), however, it supports sinthomatiquely the subject, annihilated by the disease, the rejections and the love crisis.
