Abstract

En el Laboratorio de Paleoetnobotánica y Paleoambiente del Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas, se lleva a cabo el estudio de los restos botánicos recuperados principalmente de excavaciones arqueológicas realizadas por investigadores de la UNAM y de otras instituciones. Entre los restos botánicos se encuentran tanto semillas, como carbón y polen antiguo. A través de la experiencia se ha observado que la recuperación y concentración del material polínico depende de la calidad del sustrato en el que se encuentra. Se ha implementado una técnica de extracción que intenta concentrar el material polínico de una forma más adecuada. Experimentalmente se ha conseguido concentrar el polen de muestras de perfiles de suelo de un antiguo río al norte de la Cuenca de México.

In the Paleoethnobotanical and Paleoenvironmental Laboratory of the Institute of Anthropological Research, a study of botanical remains recovered from archaeological excavations, conducted mainly by UNAM researchers and other institutions, is being carried out. Seeds, charcoal and ancient pollen are found among the main botanical remains. Through experience, it has been shown that the micro-remain recovery and concentration of the pollen material depends on the quality of the substrate. We have implemented an extraction technique that attempts to concentrate old pollen material. Experimentally, it has enabled us to concentrate old pollen samples from soil profiles of an ancient river, north of the Basin of Mexico.
