Abstract

Resumo Este artigo é baseado em duas publicações anteriores (Baßler 2013a; 2013b) e analisa o realismo como procedimento narrativo do nosso presente; para esse fim, são tratadas obras da literatura de expressão alemã e da televisão. O autor constata, tanto na chamada alta literatura quanto em gêneros como fantasia e séries televisivas um realismo que invoca e confirma, mediante frames convencionalizados, a imagem corrente da realidade e os códigos de significado vigentes do presente, indiferente da apresentação do conteúdo como realista ou fantástico. Este tipo de literatura é bem-sucedida porque possibilita uma leitura fácil e, ao mesmo tempo, reclama legitimidade através de uma autenticidade de alta literatura. Como alternativa a este estilo internacional de realismo trivial se oferecem, por um lado, obras pós-modernas e da cultura pop que expõem abertamente ser construídas por citações e, por outro, procedimentos como short cuts que dissecam a narrativa linear metonímica e a reconfiguram numa nova totalidade complexa e significativa.

Zusammenfassung Der Artikel beruht auf zwei früheren Publikationen (Baßler 2013a; 2013b) und analysiert den Realismus als Erzählverfahren in der Gegenwart; hierzu werden Beispiele aus der deutschsprachigen Literatur und dem Fernsehen behandelt. Der Autor diagnostiziert sowohl bei der sogenannten anspruchsvollen Literatur als auch in Genres wie Fantasy und deutschen TV-Serien einen Realismus, der das gängige Wirklichkeitsbild und die geltenden Sinncodes der Gegenwart mit konventionalisierten frames aufruft und bestätigt, gleichgültig ob die Werke sich inhaltlich realistisch, oder fantastisch geben. Diese Art von Literatur ist erfolgreich, weil sie eine bequeme Lektüre ermöglicht und sich gleichzeitig durch einen hochliterarischen Authentizitäts anspruch zu legitimieren versucht. Als Alternative zu diesem internationalen Stil eines trivialen Realismus erscheinen einerseits postmoderne und popkulturelle Werke, die ihre Zitathaftigkeit offen ausstellen und andererseits Verfahren wie short cuts, die das linear-metonymische Erzählen zerschneidet und zu einer neuen, komplexen und bedeutungsvollen Gesamtheit zusammenfügt.

Abstract The article is based on two previous publications (Baßler 2013a; 2013b) and analyses realism as narrative procedure in our present; for this purpose, examples from German-speaking literature and television are discussed. The author ascertains, both in the so called high-brow literature and in genres as fantasy and German TV-serials a kind of realism that invokes and confirms the current image of reality and prevalent codes of meaning by conventionalized frames, no matter whether the contents would be classified as realistic or fantastic. This sort of literature is successful because it enables comfortable reading and, at the same time, claims the legitimacy of high literary authenticity. An alternative to this international style of trivial realism seem to be, on the one hand, postmodern and pop-cultural works that expose being constructed by means of quotations and, on the other, procedures like "short cuts" which dissect linear metonymic narrative and assemble it to form a new, complex and meaningful totality.
