          Abstract

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common salivary gland tumor. This tumor mostly involves the parotid gland; however, if it occurs in the minor salivary glands, the palate would be the most common site. This lesion is more prevalent in patients with 40 to 60 years of age. Regarding the literature, the incidence of giant pleomorphic adenoma of the palate in young patients is considered a rare finding. Hereby, we present a rare case of pleomorphic adenoma of the palate, with an astonishing size, found in a 27-year-old patient. Furthermore, the surgical treatment of this lesion is described. This case was effectively treated with surgical curettage and tumor resection, emphasizing the significance of early detection in order to minimize complications. Surgical treatment, was beneficial to help the patient resume to normal life. Additionally, the clinical, radiological, and histopathological aspects and potential surgical treatments are discussed.

          Pleomorphic adenoma of the palate.

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common mixed benign tumor of major salivary glands. Approximately 80% of these tumors arise in the parotid gland, whereas 7% arise in the minor salivary glands. The most common sites for minor salivary gland where pleomorphic adenoma arises are the palates followed by lips and cheek. We report a palate mass in a 46-year-old male patient. The initial cytologic diagnosis by fine-needle aspiration biopsy was pleomorphic adenoma. This report describes a case of pleomorphic adenoma regarding all distinctive diagnoses with the review of the literature.

Pleomorphic adenoma of the palate: a case report and review of the literature

Salivary gland tumors are rare and account for 2–3% of tumors occurring in the head and neck. Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign neoplasm which is commonly encountered in the parotid gland and other major salivary glands. At times they can also develop in minor salivary glands of the palate. The majority of minor salivary gland tumors are malignant. This case report describes a case of mixed tumor in a minor salivary gland of the hard palate.

              Pleomorphic adenoma of the palate

Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common salivary gland tumor, accounting for about 40–70% of all major and minor salivary gland tumors. The commonest sites for intraoral PA are palate, buccal mucosa and lips. Palatal PA presents clinically as a painless, slow-growing mass found on posterior lateral aspect. The aim of this article is to present a case of palatal PA, which was treated successfully by surgical excision.
