Abstract

Resumen Este trabajo es el resultado de la investigación llevada a cabo en Roma, Italia, en el periodo 2016-17, cuyo propósito fue dar cuenta del modelo de cristianización en Europa durante el siglo XVI. Uno de los elementos principales de este modelo fue la creación identitaria religiosa católica propuesta por el santo Filippo Neri, cuya inspiración y ejemplo fue la Virgen María. En este artículo se muestra la visión que llevó a las comunidades y a la mayoría de los santos a identificarse con ella en una relación humana y espiritual. Además de abordar el punto de vista en torno a que muchos de los sermones estaban dirigidos para las mujeres, diseñados para transmitir moral, pureza, virginidad, el ejemplo de ser madre, creando así un símbolo que se apoya en un mito y se reafirma en el ritual, clave de la representación religiosa y el papel fundamental de la virgen.

Abstract This paper is the result of research carried out in Rome, Italy, over the period 2016-17, the purpose being to account for ‘the model’ of Christianization throughout Europe during the 16th Century. One of the main elements of this model was the creation of the Catholic religious identity proposed by Saint Filippo Neri, whose inspiration and example was the Virgin Mary. This article exhibits the vision that led communities, and most of the saints, to identify with it in a human / spiritual relationship. Moreover, it addresses the point of view that many of the sermons were directed at women, designed to convey morality, purity and virginity, as well as promoting the example of being a mother, thus creating a symbol that is supported by myth and reaffirmed in ritual; this is the key to the religious representation and the fundamental role of the Virgin.
