Abstract

Introducción: La educación médica española, a través de la Sociedad Española de Educación Médica (SEDEM), ha desempeñado durante varios años un papel importante en el desarrollo y la gestión de la Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), llegando sus miembros a ocupar varios puestos de responsabilidad en su organigrama. Sin embargo, la contribución científica de los educadores médicos españoles a los congresos anuales de la AMEE es menos conocida. Objetivo: Este trabajo describe las aportaciones científicas españolas a los congresos anuales de la AMEE durante los últimos 20 años (2000-2019), detallando su número, el origen de los participantes y la temática de las aportaciones. Sujetos y métodos: Se ha realizado un estudio observacional de tipo transversal analítico en el que se han analizado todos los programas y libros de resúmenes oficiales de las conferencias de la AMEE desde el año 2000 hasta el año 2019, localizando las diferentes aportaciones de autores españoles. Resultados y conclusiones: Se deduce que el interés de los educadores médicos españoles por las conferencias anuales de la AMEE es escaso y resulta todavía muy bajo su grado de participación y la presentación de sus trabajos. Los educadores médicos de nuestro país deberían adquirir conciencia de la importancia de la AMEE y de los temas tratados en sus conferencias con el fin de incrementar su presencia en ellas.

Introduction: Spanish medical education through the members of the Spanish Society of Medical Education (SEDEM) has played an important role in the development and management of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), occupying several positions of responsibility in its organizational chart. However, the scientific contribution of Spanish medical educators to the annual AMEE Conferences is less known. Aim: This work describes the Spanish scientific contributions to the annual AMEE conferences during the last 20 years (2000-2019), detailing the number of participations, origin of the participants and the topics of the contributions. Subjects and methods: For this, an observational analytical cross-sectional study was carried out, analyzing the programs and the abstracts books of the AMEE conferences from 2000 to 2019, locating the different contributions of Spanish authors. Results and conclusions: The interest of the Spanish medical educators for the annual AMEE conferences is scarce, being very low the degree of participation in them. The medical educators of our country should become aware of the importance of the AMEE and the topics discussed in their conferences in order to increase their presence in them.
