      Blood Fibrinolytic Activity in Skin Diseases

          Abstract

          In a study of a total of 369 patients with skin diseases, decreased blood fibrinolytic activity was found inpatients with herpes simplex, herpes zoster, erythema multi-forme, five out of six patients with chilblain, two out of five patients with Behçet’s syndrome, three out of five patients with polyarteritis nodosa, 40% of patients with erythema nodosum, 43% of patients with psoriasis, 56 % of patients with cutaneous vasculitis, 45 % of the patients with idiopathic Raynauds disease, 54% of patients with venous leg ulcers, 58% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, 52% of patients with eczema, 58% of patients with systemic sclerosis and 50% of patients with acne. The possibility that the decreased fibrinolytic activity in the blood may play an important role in the as yet unknown pathogenesis of some of these diseases is suggested.
