          Abstract

The environmental journalist Bárbara d'Achille dedicated her work and life to Peruvian nature and promoted environmentalism at a time when the country was suffering under terrorism. Hence, her writings are not only a fascinating example of as-yet undiscovered environmental journalism, but they also offer a starting point for exploring the complex history of the environment and environmental movements of 1980s Peru.
