      Fibrobroncoscopia como medio de diagnóstico: Labor de enfermería

          Abstract

          Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo de 352 pacientes con afecciones neumológicas, a quienes se les realizó fibrobroncoscopia en el Departamento de Pruebas Endoscópicas del Hospital Clinicoquirúrgico Docente "Dr. Ambrosio Grillo Portuondo" de Santiago de Cuba, desde noviembre de 1991 hasta diciembre de 1996, con el propósito de exponer los resultados de este medio de diagnóstico y otras variables de interés. En la serie investigada, el hallazgo de neoplasia del pulmón coincidió con la identificación de tumores pulmonares (48,6 %) y su relación con el hábito de fumar. Las complicaciones fueron mínimas durante la ejecución de este proceder, atribuible fundamentalmente a la gran participación y responsabilidad del personal de enfermería en el equipo de salud. Para la presentación de los datos se utilizó el método porcentual.

          Translated abstract

          A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study of 352 patients with pneumological affections that had undergone fibronchoscopy at the Department of Endoscopic Tests of "Dr. Ambrosio Grillo Portuondo" Cinical and Surgical Teaching Hospital, in Santiago de Cuba, from November, 1991, to December, 1996, was made aimed at showing the results of this diagnostic tool and other variables of interest. According to the results of the investigation, lung neoplasia coincided with the identification of lung tumors (48.6 %) and their relationship with the smoking habit. Complications were minimum during the carrying out of this procedure, due mainly to the great participation and responsibility of the nursing personnel in the health team. The percentage method was used to present the data.
