DOMESTICACIÓN DE PLANTAS Y ANIMALES EN LA ARAUCANÍA: DATOS, METODOLOGÍAS Y PROBLEMAS

Abstract

El problema de la domesticación de plantas y animales en la Araucanía no ha recibido, por diversos motivos, una adecuada atención de parte de los especialistas, arqueólogos, zooarqueólogos y arqueobotánicos, a excepción de Latcham (1922, 1936). ¿Es posible inferir a través de los datos arqueológicos existentes, de las metodologías usadas y de las teorías ocupadas la segura existencia de domesticación de plantas y animales en la zona? O tal vez podamos, al menos, formular hipótesis y/o interpretaciones bien fundamentadas, que permitan desarrollar líneas de investigación que mejoren sustancialmente los datos, las metodologías y las teorías usadas, hasta el momento, en el estudio de la domesticación de plantas y animales en la Araucanía

For different reasons, the issue of plants and animals domestication in Araucanía has not received proper attention by the specialists, namely archaeologists, zoo-archaeologists, and archaeo-botanists. The only exception in this regards has been Latcham (1922, 1936). Is it possible to derive the actual presence of domestication of the area's plants and animals based on available archaeological data, as well as on the current methodologies and theories? Perhaps we could start by suggesting hypothesis and interpretations leading to the development of areas of investigation that, in turn, may substantially improve the data, methodologies, and theories gather and/or used so far in the research about domestication of plants and animals in Araucanía
