A prosthetic aortic valve was implanted in a 41-year-old patient with connatal aortic stenosis. 14 months later a bacterial endocarditis was diagnosed and treated with ceftriaxone. 6 weeks later he had a relapse. Satellite streptococci could be cultivated from three blood cultures, later identified as Granulicatella adiacens. The patient was treated with penicillin and gentamicin.
