Dom João Marcos (n. 1944), Bispo coadjutor da diocese de Beja, com formação artística em Artes Plásticas Pintura, possui uma obra retabular notável. Os seus modos de operar privilegiam acima de tudo os momentos sublimes do fazer em franca sintonia com a dimensão espiritual do homem e da vida. No âmbito de uma cultura ocidental, de matriz eminentemente cristã, a sua pintura é integrável na estética do Caminho Neocatecumenal, um ramo consequente do Concílio do Vaticano II.

Dom João Marcos (b. 1944), coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Beja, with artistic training in Fine Arts Painting, has been making many notable altarpieces. Above all, his way of operating privileges the sublime moments of open mind in harmony with the spiritual dimension of man and life. As part of a Western culture eminently Christian, the matrix of his painting is integrated in the aesthetic of a Neocatechumenal Way, a sizeable branch of the Vatican Council II.
