          Abstract

          Both neurosecretory axons and ependymal/hypendymal/glial processes terminate on the capillary walls of the primary plexus of the hypophysial portal vessels in the median eminence of eleven vertebrate species. The ratio of axon terminals to ependymal processes, however, varies considerably in different species.
