          Abstract

Objective Through the analysis of the results of pre-pregnancy eugenics health checkups in Hainan Province in 2017-2018, we can understand the health status of pregnant couples in the province and strengthen interventions in a targeted manner.

Methods A summary of the results of 160 152 planned pregnancy couples who participated in the free prepregnancy eugenics health check in Hainan Province from 2017 to 2018.

Results From January 2017 to December 2018, a total of 160 152 people participated in the examination, with 80 033 men and 80 119 women. Among them, women aged ≥35 years accounted for 19.93%, and men aged ≥40 years old accounted for 13.44%; medical history query results showed that the abnormal rate of medical history was 20.33%; physical examination results showed that the abnormal rate of routine physical examination and reproductive system examination were 27.25% and 4.32%; laboratory results showed that the top three abnormalities in female examination items were blood routine, vaginal discharge routine and thyroid function test, and the abnormal rates were 50.85%, 21.84% and 9.39%, respectively; the top three abnormalities in the examination items in both gender were the five tests of hepatitis B serology, liver function tests and urine routine, and the abnormal rates were 17.39%, 14.73% and 11.34%, respectively. The results of female TORCH test showed that the positive rates of IgM antibodies in cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma were 0.11% and 0.15%, respectively, indicating that some pregnant women had recent acute infections. The final assessment showed that there were 16 801 people at risk, accounting for 10.49%, and more women than men.

Conclusion Pre-pregnancy health checkups for pregnant couples are of great significance for eugenics, and publicity should be strengthened to encourage active couples to participate actively. For the risk groups screened, the targeted health guidance is provided, and preventive measures are taken to reduce the occurrence of adverse pregnancy and improve the quality of the birth population.
