Abstract

O termo "indústrias criativas" surgiu nos anos 1990, para designar setores nos quais a criatividade é uma dimensão essencial do negócio. As indústrias criativas compreendem, entre outras, as atividades relacionadas ao cinema, ao teatro, à música e às artes plásticas. Neste artigo introdutório, mostramos o surgimento do termo no âmbito de políticas públicas de desenvolvimento econômico, analisamos a literatura científica sobre as indústrias criativas e procuramos sistematizar as diferentes definições do termo, diferenciando-o de conceitos similares, em especial do conceito de indústrias culturais. Advogamos que o fenômeno pode constituir um campo fecundo de investigações para pesquisadores de Estudos Organizacionais e apontamos trilhas de investigação a serem exploradas.

The term "creative industries" first arose in the 1990s to indicate sectors in which creativity is an essential business dimension. Creative industries include, among others, activities related to the cinema, theater, music and the plastic arts. In this introductory article we show the rise of the term within the domain of public economic development policies, we analyze the scientific literature about creative industries and we try and organize the various definitions of the term, by differentiating it from similar concepts, especially the concept of cultural industries. We argue that the phenomenon may constitute a fertile field for investigation for researchers in Organizational Studies and we indicate some investigation trails to be explored.
