Abstract

A história da psicologia moderna tem sido a história de uma longa e persistente crise de cientificidade. Três grupos distintos de argumentos têm sido usados ao longo desta como obstáculos à possibilidade de constituição da psicologia como ciência. O primeiro grupo é composto pelos argumentos filosóficos contra a própria ciência moderna. Questionando a psicologia especificamente, temos outros dois grupos, o dos argumentos ontológicos e o dos metodológicos. Entre os ontológicos, temos os da natureza inquantificável do objeto da psicologia; da simultaneidade da condição de sujeito e objeto; da indivisibilidade do fenômeno psíquico; da inexistência de objeto próprio da psicologia; da alteração do ser humano pela interação; do significado como verdadeiro objeto psicológico; do livre-arbítrio e da necessidade de adoção de um método distinto do das ciências naturais. Entre os metodológicos, temos as alegações de impossibilidade de observação direta do objeto; da dificuldade metodológica de quantificação; das limitações éticas para a pesquisa e da enorme quantidade de variáveis envolvidas na explicação psicológica. Muitos destes problemas foram superados ao longo da história da disciplina, mas alguns deles ainda hoje esperam solução filosófica, o que faz da psicologia moderna um projeto de ciência inacabado.

The history of modern psychology has been the history of a long and persistent scientificity crisis. Three different groups of arguments have being used along that history as obstacles to the possibility of the constitution of psychology as modern science. The first group is composed by the philosophical arguments against the modern science. Questioning the psychology specifically, we have other two groups, the ontological arguments and the methodological ones. In the ontological, we have the problems of the no quantitative nature of psychology object; simultaneity of subject and object condition; indivisibility of the psychic phenomenon; inexistence of proper object; alteration of the human being by interaction; meaning as true psychological object; free will and the need of adoption of a different method from the one of the natural science. In the methodological group of arguments, we have the allegations of the impossibility of direct observation; methodological difficulty of quantification; ethical limitations for the research and the enormous amount of variables involved in the psychological explanation. Many of these problems were overcome along this discipline history, but some of them are still waiting today for philosophical solution, what makes modern psychology an unfinished project of science.
