          Abstract

Objective The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma among residents in Luohu district of Shenzhen from 2001 to 2015 was analyzed to provide basis for prevention and control of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Methods Based on the monitoring data of nasopharyngeal carcinoma during 2001 to 2015, crude rates, standardized rates, cumulative rates, truncated rates were calculated, and the trend of incidence was analyzed.

Results From 2001 to 2015, the crude incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Luohu district of Shenzhen was 6.20 / 100 000, the age-standardized incidence rate by Chinese standard population (ASR china) was 7.95 / 100 000, the age-standardized incidence rate by world standard population (ASR world) was 7.57/100 000, the cumulative rate was 0.87%, and the truncated rate was 17.02/100 000. The incidence for males was significantly higher than that for females ( P<0.05) . The mean age of onset of nasopharyngeal carcinoma was (48.34±12.70) years, the highest in the 65-<70 age group, and it began to decline after the age of 70. The crude incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma showed an increasing trend (APC=4.20%, P<0.05), and the incidence of ASR china and world did not change significantly ( P>0.05). The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the 40-<45 age group showed an increasing trend (APC= 5.23%, P<0.05), while the incidence of the other age groups showed no significant change ( P>0.05).

Conclusion The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is high in Luohu district of Shenzhen, and the incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is on the rise from 2001-2015, indicating that nasopharyngeal carcinoma is still the focus of cancer prevention and control in our district, and it is suggested to carry out targeted early diagnosis and early treatment.
