          Abstract

          Resumen En la actualidad, la satisfacción laboral de los trabajadores tiene un rol fundamental en el incremento de la productividad de cualquier organización; las organizaciones exitosas procuran ser sitios de excelente clima laboral puesto que, este elemento garantiza un incremento de satisfacción laboral. Los efectos de no administrar a los empleados de manera efectiva son severos y repercuten en el cumplimiento de los objetivos institucionales, y, en consecuencia, el desempeño general de la organización se ve afectado. El propósito de este trabajo es analizar la relación que existe entre la Satisfacción Laboral y la Productividad de los trabajadores de las Entidades de Intermediación Financiera del Sistema Bancario de la ciudad de Tarija; este trabajo se sustenta con las teorías de Robbins Stephen P. y Mary Coulter (2005) y Robbins Stephen P. y Timothy A. Judge (2013), teorías en las cuales se hallan ambas variables (satisfacción laboral y productividad). CLASIFICACIÓN JEL: M0, M10, M20.

          Translated abstract

          Abstract Currently, the job satisfaction of workers has a fundamental role in increasing the productivity of any organization; successful organizations seek to be places with an excellent work environment since this element guarantees an increase in job satisfaction. The effects of not managing employees effectively are severe and affect the fulfillment of institutional objectives, and, consequently, the general performance of the organization is affected. The purpose of this work is to analyze the relationship that exists between Job Satisfaction and Productivity of the workers of the Financial Intermediation Entities of the Banking System of the city of Tarija; This work is supported by the theories of Robbins Stephen P. and Mary Coulter (2005) and Robbins Stephen P. and Timothy A. Judge (2013), theories in which both variables are found (job satisfaction and productivity). JEL CLASSIFICATION: M0, M10, M20.

              Upskilling: Do Employers Demand Greater Skill When Workers Are Plentiful?

              Using a proprietary database of online job postings, we find that education and experience requirements rose during the Great Recession. These increases were larger in states and occupations that experienced greater increases in the supply of available workers. This finding is robust to controlling for local demand conditions and firm [Formula: see text] job-title fixed effects and using a natural experiment arising from troop withdrawals as an exogenous shock to labor supply. Our results imply that the increase in unemployed workers during the Great Recession can account for 18% to 25% of the increase in skill requirements between 2007 and 2010.
