The rapidly ageing population across the EU is placing relentless pressure on increasingly scarce health and social care resources. More people live with multiple co-morbidities, and there are fewer people to care for them. eHealth and technology enabled care services (TECS) can better connect patients with health and care systems and deliver services conveniently into their homes. Many innovative solutions have been developed and piloted that indicate better health outcomes and improved service economy are achievable but mainstream adoption has been slow, in part due to the difficulties in specifying and procuring these solutions. STOPandGO has developed a comprehensive method and tools to enable the procurement of innovative solutions, adaptable for any service and any locale across Europe. The STOPandGO approach has been successfully applied to introduce technogical and commercial innovation into a range of health and care services delivered to thousands of users. STOPandGO 'Sustainable Technology for Older People - Get Organised' is a Public Procurement of Innovative Solutions (PPI) project that has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no 621013.
