Abstract

El espacio urbano ha tenido una transformación tan grande que pensar hoy en la ciudad es imaginar un lugar complejo, dinámico y a la vez mágico que el hombre comparte con otros hombres y con la naturaleza. En él se expresa, siente, percibe, condiciona su conducta y establece normas de índole social y natural. Esto conlleva a que la planificación y el diseño de nuevos espacios requieran tanto del conocimiento estructural y objetivo de la ciudad como de la comprensión de las preferencias y necesidades de sus habitantes. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo evaluar las áreas de rechazo de la ciudad de Bahía Blanca a partir de la imagen subjetiva que los adolescentes tienen de ella. La participación de los jóvenes es indispensable para conocer el impacto que estos espacios producen pues ayuda a generar propuestas tendientes a mejorar el diseño y la calidad urbana. La metodología propuesta usa técnicas de exploración basadas en la teoría geográfica de la percepción y del comportamiento, la representación cartográfica y el análisis estadístico. Los resultados obtenidos muestran un fuerte rechazo a aquellos lugares con equipamiento urbano e infraestructura de transporte en mal estado como así también los espacios carenciados y los focos y las actividades que producen contaminación ambiental; es decir, que en general rechazan las áreas con mala funcionalidad y estética dentro del tejido urbano y los espacios donde perciben situaciones de miedo, inseguridad e injusticia social.

The urban space has suffered such a great transformation in the last few years that when we think of the city today we imagine a complex, dynamic, and magical place that Man shares with other human beings and with nature. In such a space human beings express, feel, perceive, and determine their behavior and set social and natural rules. This leads to planning and designing new spaces that require both a structural and objective knowledge of the city and an understanding of the preferences and needs of its inhabitants. This study aims at assessing rejection areas in the city of Bahía Blanca from the subjective image that adolescents have of their city. Participation of young people is essential in order to know the impact that these areas have and to help to develop proposals for improving urban design and quality. The methodology proposed is the use of scanning techniques based on the geographical theory of perception and behavior, mapping, and statistical analysis. The results show a strong rejection to poor urban facilities and transportation infrastructure, deprived areas, polluting spots and activities, and, in general, to those areas that lack functionality and aesthetics within the urban mesh and those spaces where they feel fear, insecurity, and social injustice.
