Abstract

RESUMEN: En este artículo se examinan algunas de las principales operaciones literarias llevadas a cabo por el gran escritor argentino Jorge Luis Borges. Por una parte, se afirma que la puesta en relación de los procesos de lectura y escritura nos brinda una de sus claves compositivas, ya que con él la literatura se convierte radicalmente en la escritura de una lectura y en la lectura de una escritura. Otra de las operaciones que Borges llevó a un grado eminente es el renovado y original enfoque de la relación entre las dimensiones de lo ficcional y no ficcional, la crítica y la creación, y esto incidió en géneros como el ensayo, que se renovaron a partir del cruce borgeano entre “inquisiciones” y “ficciones”. Se afirma que, con operaciones magistrales de este tipo, Borges logró a su vez refundar los debates en torno a la relación entre literaturas centrales y periféricas, así como reestructurar el orden jerárquico de los géneros.

ABSTRACT: This article will examine some of the chief literary operations implemented by the great Argentinean writer Jorge Luis Borges. The article shows that in Borges’ work the relationship between the strategies of reading and writing were elevated to the point that they provide one of the keys of composition in his work, since it is with Borges that literature radically becomes the writing of reading and the reading of writing. Another operation that Borges exalted is the renewed and original way of looking at the relationship between the dimensions of fiction and non-fiction, criticism and creation which had an impact on genres (like the essay) that were renovated through the Borgian crossing of “inquisitions” and “fictions”. It is with masterful operations of this type that Borges re-examines the debates surrounding the relationship between central and peripheral literatures while he restructures the hierarchical order of the genres.
