Abstract

RESUMO Este artigo pretende identificar, pelo viés da análise musical, transformações de padrões centro-africanos (linhas-guia em particular) no samba urbano do sudeste brasileiro, à luz do processo colonial e de sua projeção no século XX. Entendendo que as vias transatlânticas desenhadas pelo comércio escravista dão início a uma ligação entre territórios separados pelo oceano através de uma convivência forçada, desigual e desestabilizadora de grupos diferentes, formulamos a hipótese de que culturas diversas podem ter assimilado a seu modo as práticas musicais de outras, contribuindo para formar as estruturas complexas daquilo que hoje identificamos como o samba urbano brasileiro.

ABSTRACT This paper intends to identify, through the bias of the musical analysis, transformations of central African patterns (time lines in particular) in the Brazilian southeast urban Samba, in the context of the colonial process and its projection in the twentieth century. Understanding that the transatlantic routes designed by the slave trade begin a connection between territories separated by the ocean through a forced, unequal and destabilizing coexistence of different groups, we hypothesize that diverse peoples may have assimilated in their own way the musical practices of others, contributing to form the complex structures of what we now identify as Brazilian urban Samba.
