          Abstract

          La influencia del fundador de la empresa familiar (EF) es decisiva en la formación de la cultura de su organización, integrada por valores, creencias y normas de conducta que provienen del ambiente familiar. El objetivo de este artículo, que pretende contribuir al conocimiento de la mexicana, consiste en descubrir los valores de la empresa que provienen del fundador y que se han transmitido hasta la actualidad, encontrar las coincidencias de los valores familiares y su influencia en la continuidad de tres empresas mexicanas de tercera generación, utilizando estudios de caso y la teoría de sistemas. Los resultados indican que en las tres empresas se reconoce la importancia de los valores legados a la empresa por el fundador, y que el sentido de orgullo y el de pertenencia a la empresa coinciden en los tres casos, lo que sugiere su influencia en el comportamiento del personal.

          Translated abstract

          The influence of the founder of the family business (FB) is decisive in the formation of the culture of its organization, formed by values, beliefs and rules of conduct which come from the family environment. The purpose of this article, which aims to contribute to knowledge of the Mexican family business, is to find the values of the business which come from the founder, and which have been transmitted to the present day, and so, to discover the coincidences of family values and their influence on the continuity of three third-generation Mexican businesses, using case studies, and the theory of systems. The results indicate that in all three cases, there is recognition of the importance of values handed down to the business by the founder, and that the sense of pride and belonging to the business coincides in these three cases, which suggests an influence on the behaviour of personnel.

          A influência do fundador da empresa familiar (EF) é decisiva na formação da cultura de sua organização, composta de valores,crenças e regras de conduta que se originaram no ambiente familiar. O objetivo deste artigo, que visa contribuir para o conhecimento da EF mexicana, consiste em indicar os valores da empresa que provêm do fundador, e que foram transmitidas para o presente; e encontrar a correspondência dos valores familiares e de sua influência sobre a continuidade de três empresas mexicanas de terceira geração, utilizando estudos de caso e a teoria de sistemas. Os resultados apontam que nas três empresas a importância dos valores legados pelo seu fundador é reconhecida, e o sentimento de orgulho e de pertencer à empresa coincidem em todos os três casos, sugerindo a sua influência sobre o comportamento do seu pessoal.
