          Abstract

The example of diagnostic ultrasound, particularly the one of Doppler sonography, demonstrate how programmes of postgraduate training and on measures for quality assurance including documentation must be integrated to a common concept. The introduction of sonography as a group of novel non-invasive techniques offers the opportunity to re-consider existing concepts of postgraduate training.
