          Abstract

5,10,15,20-Tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine cobalt flat stacking on the reduced graphene oxide with platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs/CoTPP/rGO) were first synthesized and functionalized with monoclonal rabbit anti-aflatoxin B 1 antibody (anti-AFB 1) for highly efficient electrochemical immunoassay of aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1) in this work. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscope (AFM) and spectral techniques were employed to characterize the PtNPs/CoTPP/rGO hybrids. Using anti-AFB 1-conjugated PtNPs/CoTPP/rGO as the signal-transduction tag, a novel non-enzymatic electrochemical immunosensing system was designed for detection of target AFB 1 on the AFB 1-bovine serum albumin-functionalized sensing interface. Experimental results revealed that the designed immunoassay could exhibit good electrochemical responses for target analyte and allowed the detection of AFB 1 at a concentration as low as 5.0 pg mL −1 (5.0 ppt). Intra- and inter-assay coefficients of variation were below 10%. Importantly, the methodology was further validated for analyzing naturally contaminated or spiked blank peanut samples with consistent results obtained by AFB 1 ELISA kit, thus providing a promising approach for quantitative monitoring of organic pollutants.

Synthesis of "clean" and well-dispersive Pd nanoparticles with excellent electrocatalytic property on graphene oxide.

Ultrafine Pd nanoparticles monodispersed on graphene oxide (GO) surfaces were successfully prepared by the redox reaction between PdCl(4)(2-) and GO. The as-made catalyst is very "clean" as a result of the surfactant-free formation process, allowing it to express high electrocatalytic ability in formic acid and ethanol oxidation relative to a commercial Pd/C catalyst. This simple and straightforward method is of significance for the facile preparation metal nanocatalysts with high catalytic activity on proper supporting materials.

Metal-metalloporphyrin frameworks: a resurging class of functional materials.

This review presents comprehensively recent progress in metal-metalloporphyrin frameworks (MMPFs) with an emphasis on versatile functionalities. Following a brief introduction of basic concepts and the potential virtues of MMPFs, we give a snapshot of the historical perspective of MMPFs since 1991. We then summarize four effective strategies implemented frequently to construct prototypal MMPFs. MMPFs represent a resurging class of promising functional materials, highlighted with diverse applications including guest-molecule adsorption and separation, catalysis, nano-thin films and light-harvesting.

Chemically converted graphene induced molecular flattening of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(1-methyl-4-pyridinio)porphyrin and its application for optical detection of cadmium(II) ions.

Complexation of cationic 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(1-methyl-4-pyridinio)porphyrin (TMPyP) and negatively charged chemically converted graphene (CCG) sheets was performed by simply mixing the diluted aqueous solutions of both components. During this process, a large bathochromic shift of porphyrin Soret band from 421 to 458 nm was observed, which is attributed to the flattening of TMPyP molecules induced by CCG through electrostatic and pi-pi stacking cooperative interactions. Furthermore, the coordination reaction between TMPyP and Cd(2+) ions was greatly accelerated from 20 h to 8 min under ambient conditions by introducing CCG sheets. On the basis of this phenomenon, we used the complex of TMPyP and CCG as an optical probe for rapid and selective detection of Cd(2+) ions in aqueous media.
