          Abstract

          Resumen La formación de futuros profesionales enfermeros debe reforzar el dominio de competencias en promoción de la salud comunitaria. En la fase final del plan de estudios, el estudiantado universitario elabora el Trabajo Final de Grado orientado a evaluar las competencias de la titulación. El Aprendizaje-Servicio se incorpora como una modalidad, en la que se ha de realizar un diario reflexivo, siendo la reflexión una parte esencial en el desarrollo académico y profesional. El estudiantado participante de proyectos de Aprendizaje-Servicio, realiza un aprendizaje competencial, que supone un compromiso con la comunidad repercutiendo en un desarrollo personal y profesional, que implica un sentido ético y de responsabilidad social en contacto directo con la comunidad.

          Translated abstract

          Abstract The training of future nursing professionals should strengthen and improve competencies in the promotion of community health. In the last academic year of nursing degree, university students elaborate the Final Project, which has the purpose to assess the student's general competencies in the degree. The Service-Learning is a project modality, where students develop a reflective journal, being the reflexive an essential part in their academic and professional development. The students who choose the Service-Learning project modality develop a specific skill, which involve their compromise with the community. This has an effect on their sense of ethics and social responsibility in their direct contact with the community.

          The ageing population and growing burden of chronic disease has increased demands for primary health care services, necessitating growth of this nursing workforce. Studies have explored strategies in retaining nurses, employment conditions in primary health care, and transitioning of acute care nurses to primary health care employment. Few studies have explored how undergraduate nursing students perceive and are prepared to work in this sector.
