Medios y política: La participación política vía Internet en Corea del Sur

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se indaga la influencia de Internet en los métodos de aproximación entre políticos/candidatos y ciudadanos/electores, y sus efectos en las prácticas participativas. Se examinan y analizan los usos y las características, en referencia a la interrelación internet-participación política, que adquiere esta tecnología en el plano político desde la observación de entornos electorales e institucionales en Corea del Sur. Los resultados nos permiten concluir que la participación a través de Internet no conduce necesariamente a una relación directa y libre entre el político y el ciudadano, sino que, dependiendo de cómo se emplee y adapte esta herramienta tecnológica, puede (re)crear mediaciones políticas y hallarse limitada a un curso establecido.

Translated abstract

This paper investigates the Internet's influence on methods of approach amongst politicians/candidates and citizens/voters, and its effects on participatory practices. It examines and analyzes characteristics and uses, referring to the interrelation of the Internet and political participation, that this technology acquired in the political field from the observation of electoral and institutional environments in South Korea. Results allows to conclude that participation through the Internet do not necessarily leads to a direct and free relationship between politicians and citizens but, depending on how this technological tool is used and adapted, it could (re)create political mediations and be limited to an established path.
