Abstract

O artigo centra-se em discussões sobre modalidades de engajamento e militância, com base em investigação conduzida no estado de Sergipe com dirigentes e ex-dirigentes de instituições associativas bastante diversas: sindicatos, instituições de filantropia, defesa de direitos humanos e opção sexual, movimento negro, conselho de leigos católicos e ONGs ambientalistas. O eixo de análise gira em torno das condições de aquisição de disposições para diferentes engajamentos e da forma como tais disposições se realizam e se atualizam ao longo de itinerários individuais. Os resultados apontam condições de socialização familiar e religiosa favoráveis, escolarização elevada, passagem pelo espaço universitário, eventos biográficos marcantes, ativismo militante e vinculações partidárias precoces como elementos decisivos à realização de carreiras militantes.

Translated abstract

This paper is focused on discussions about patterns of political involvement and militancy based on a research conducted in the state of Sergipe with leaders and former leaders of very different institutions: unions, institutions of philanthropy, human rights and sexual choice associations, a black movement, a lay catholic group and environmental NGOs. It analyzes the conditions of acquiring social dispositions for political commitment and how such dispositions are fulfilled and updated over individual routes. The results point out that sociably favorable familial and religious background, high education levels, university experiences, important biographical events, militant activism and early partisan ties are crucial elements for a militant career.
