Abstract

En el artículo se evalúa la situación de la novela en la segunda mitad del siglo XX a partir de distintas afirmaciones críticas en sentido de que la novela como género estaría agotada. Primero revisa ese supuesto desde el punto de vista marxista y de la sociología. Luego describe los enunciados sobre el tema desde la perspectiva de los propios novelistas, para continuar con tres propuestas críticas y prácticas que propusieron la renovación de la novela: la novela latinoamericana, la Geografía de la novela (1993), de Carlos Fuentes, y el libro El arte de la novela, de Milan Kundera. Finalmente, concluye con un comentario propio del autor como lector.

Translated abstract

This article intends an assessment of the situation of the novel throughout the XXth century second half, considering different critical statements sustaining the end of the novel as a gender. As for this purpose, the author reviews this assumption over Marxist and sociology perspectives, then he describes the statements of the novelists themselves to continue with the presentation of three proposals that critically and practically positioned for the renovation of the gender: the latinamerican novel, the Geography of the novel (1993) by Carlos Fuentes and Milan Kundera's The Art of the Novel (1986). Finally, the author sums up with his own views on the problem as a novel reader.
