Abstract

La red islamista Al-Qaeda es una de las organizaciones más conocidas en el mundo occidental. En este artículo se presentan los resultados de un análisis discursivo realizado a los mensajes emitidos por la red en el marco de los atentados contra Estados Unidos (2001), Madrid (2004) y Londres (2005), con el fin de responder a las siguientes preguntas: ¿cuál fue el propósito de estos mensajes y qué nos dicen de sus emisores? Al estudiar estos procesos de comunicación intercultural se obtendrán elementos para conocer y comprender al otro más allá de los estereotipos mediáticos que se han construido en su entorno.

Translated abstract

Al-Qaeda is one of the best known Islamic organizations in Occidental world. In this paper we present the results of a discourse analysis applied to the texts released following attacks on the United States (2001), Madrid (2004), and London (2005), with the purpose of answering the following two questions: ¿which were the purposes of these messages and what do they reveal about their communicators? We consider that studying these processes of intercultural communication may be able to provide us keys to know and understand the other, far beyond the media stereotypes that have been formulated.
