          Abstract

          A case of a rare form of subacute bacterial endocarditis due to Listeria monocytogenes ispresented, with clinical characteristics and bacteriological studies. In spite of an early relapse a few monthsafter initiation of treatment, the patient was free of symptoms four years after the first manifestation of the disease. The course of the disease and the agentsensitivity to antibiotics arecompared with the data available in the world literature.
