          Abstract

Objective To observe the blood hemogram variation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, so as to study the correlation between the changes of blood hemogram and the therapeutic effect of the patients.

Methods The blood hemogram variation of 45 cases COVID-19 patients before and after treatment were retrospectively analyzed. The therapeutic effect was divided into groups for comparative analysis.

Results Before 45 cases of COVID-19 patients were treated, the neutrophil percentage was raising 60% (27/45), the eosinophil absolute value was declining 93.3% (42/45), and eosinophil percentage was declining 93.3% (42 / 45), the absolute value of lymphocyte was declining 77.8% (35 / 45), the percentage of lymphocyte was declining 64.4% (29/45), and the whole C-reactive protein was raising 86.7% (39/45). After 45 COVID-19 patients were treated, lymphocyte absolute value was declining 55.6% (25/45), the percentage of lymphocyte was declining 55.6% (25/45), the whole C-reactive protein was raising 57.8% (26/45). The comparison results by chi-square test showed that there were no significant differences in the leukocyte count, neutrophil absolute value, eosinophil percentage and lymphocyte absolute value between the improvement group and the non-improvement group before and after treatment. The percentage of neutrophils, the absolute value of eosinophils, the absolute value of eosinophils and the whole C-reactive protein were significantly different between the improvement group and the non-improvement group before and after treatment.

Conclusion In the COVID-19 patients, the white blood cell count and neutrophil absolute value were in more normal intervals. The percentage of neutrophils increased earlier and returned to normal after treatment. The absolute value of eosinophils decreased earlier and returned to normal after treatment. The absolute value of lymphocyte and absolute value of lymphocyte decreased significantly, and the whole course of C reactive protein increased. The percentage of neutrophils, the absolute value of eosinophils, the absolute value of eosinophils and the whole course C-reactive protein in the hemogram were positively correlated with the treatment outcome of COVID-19.
