          Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to identify the stage of individual resilience of a group of tutors of the degree in education of the Universidad Autónoma del Carmen (México), with the purpose of generating strategies that contribute to the improvement of the aspects that result as areas of opportunity. The resilience is integrated by various elements that can be strengthened from the mentoring program that starts from a humanistic formation. Based on the techniques and instruments of the quantitative methodology, the individual resilience instrument is applied, which has shown high reliability. The results indicate that the majority of the participants are in an acceptable resilience stage. However, it is necessary to propose actions to work with the elements that were not all positive and thus reach the desirable stage of resilience.

Vulnerability and resilience: a study of high-risk adolescents.

          S S Luthar (1991)
Factors that allow children to maintain socially competent behaviors despite stress were examined among 144 inner-city ninth-grade students with a mean age of 15.3 years. Stress was operationalized by scores on a negative life events scale, and definitions of social competence were based on peer ratings, teacher ratings, and school grades. Moderator variables examined included intelligence, internal locus of control, social skills, ego development, and positive life events. Following theoretical models by Garmezy and Rutter, distinctions were made between compensatory factors (which are directly related to competence) and protective/vulnerability factors (which interact with stress in influencing competence). Ego development was found to be compensatory against stress. Internality and social skills proved to be protective factors, while intelligence and positive events were involved in vulnerability processes. This study also revealed that children labeled as resilient were significantly more depressed and anxious than were competent children from low stress backgrounds.

            Resilience: a concept analysis.

Concept analysis of resilience. To analyze the concept of resilience and provide a definition of resilience that is contextually independent of specific age-related groups or populations. Published literature. Resilience is being increasingly studied in innovative ways among diverse populations. The broadly accepted definition of the term, however, has evolved through literature related specifically to children and adolescents. This concept analysis can provide a fundamental definition of resilience that is derived from the evolution of the term but broadly supports contemporary applications. Resilience researchers can apply this definition when exploring the possibility of resilience-based interventions.
