      Supresión de un paso terapéutico en el tratamiento de la hipertensión arterial severa

          Abstract

          Se reportan los resultados obtenidos con prazosin en 20 pacientes con hipertensión arterial severa en quienes la asociacion de multiples agentes antihipertensivos a dosis máximas no estaba produciendo adecuados efectos terapéuticos. Al incluir prazosin en el protocolo de tratamiento de dichos pacientes, se observaron resultados muy satisfactorios, hallándose en la actualidad sus cifras tensionales bajo control con 3 a 4 tabletas diarias, en vez de las 8 ó 10 que tomaban anteriormente. Se concluye que se debe incluir a prazosin en los esquemas terapéuticos antihipertensivos.
