O artigo revê a dedução da lei de Ampère, como feita por ele e na mesma sequência de etapas. Indicam-se princípios que a fundamentam. A expressão da lei resultou de uma interação entre experimento e a habilidade de Ampère em “narrar” o fato na linguagem da matemática.

Translated abstract

This paper reviews the deduction of Ampère's law as made by Ampère himself, and following the same sequence of steps. We indicate the principles on which the law is founded. The expression of the law is the result of an interaction between experiment, and Ampère's skills to account for facts in the language of mathematics.
