Abstract

La tiroiditis subaguda de De Quervain es una enfermedad rara. Se presenta el caso de una paciente con diagnóstico de fiebre de origen desconocido en el curso de esta enfermedad. El estudio clínico de laboratorio ecográfico, gammagráfico y hormonal detectó la dolencia. Se comentan los aspectos clínicos y los exámenes, al igual que la terapéutica con la cual la paciente se encuentra totalmente recuperada. Se concluye que aunque es una enfermedad infrecuente debe tenerse presente en las mujeres jóvenes con o sin manifestaciones tiroideas y que presenten una fiebre de origen desconocido.

Translated abstract

Quervain's subacute thyroiditis is a rare disease. A patient with a diagnosis of unknown origin fever in the course of this disease is presented. The clinical study of the echographic, gammagraphic and hormonal laboratory detected this illness. The clinical aspects, concerning examinations to this case, and the therapy with which the patient is totally recovered, are discussed. As a conclusion, though it is an unfrequent disease, it should bear in mind in young women with thyroid manifestations or without them, and in those that present the said fever.
