32 patients with angiopathy received applications of intraarterial infusions with a vasodilatation mixture. This enabled us to demonstrate a close relationship between the degree of collateralization and inducible blood supply range. On several occasions we observed a local ‘borrowing-lending’ phenomenon, the origin of which seemed to be sufficiently evident as the pressure of the tissue was temporarily below the critical point. According to Fontaine, stages III and IV vasodilatation will not be successful in everycase in increasing the blood supply. Therefore, a positive effect for the further therapy has to be established plethysmographically.
