Abstract

Partiendo de la problemática definición del Modernismo literario y de su igualmente discutida relación con el Modernismo religioso de teólogos como Alfred Loisy y George Tyrrell, este trabajo analiza en primer lugar las causas y alcances de esas ambigüedades. Luego, tomando como referencia principal las obras de Rubén Darío, se comenta cómo ambos modernismos deben entenderse más bien como corrientes de pensamiento heterólogas cuyas intersecciones se explicarían sobre todo por sus orígenes en el liberalismo ideológico del XIX.

Translated abstract

Taking as points of departure the problematic definition on Hispanic literary Modernismo as well as its debated relationship with the religious modernism of theologians such as Alfred Loisy and George Tyrrell, this article attempts to show first the causes and real reach of all those terminological ambiguities. Later, using Rubén Darío's work as main reference, the article proves that both modernisms should be understood rather as heterologous currents of thought whose common grounds are mainly explained by their shared roots in ideological liberalism of the 19th Century.
